These steps in Rome link a square to a church on the hill above. They face the evening sun which brings out the amazing texture in the marble.

Looking up towards the top of the Pantheon’s great dome.

Here you can see the beam of light illuminating the side of the dome, and the detailed carvings and marble work around the walls that support it.

This shot shows less detail, but here the tones are much finer and let the lines and shadows convey the curved space that is formed.
